SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD
Docket No. AB 290 (Sub-No. 318X)
NORFOLK SOUTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY—ABANDONMENT
EXEMPTION—IN CRAWFORD COUNTY, GA.
Decided: November 18, 2011
On October 27, 2011, Norfolk Southern Railway Company (NSR) filed a request for a 1‑year extension of the deadline to consummate the abandonment authority approved in this proceeding. By letter filed November 1, 2011, NSR requests permission to withdraw the extension request. The extension is unnecessary because a Section 106 historic preservation condition remains in effect. See 49 C.F.R. § 1152.29(e)(2). Accordingly, the request will be granted.
This action will not significantly affect either the quality of the human environment or the conservation of energy resources.
It is ordered:
1. NSR’s request to withdraw its consummation extension request is granted.
2. This decision is effective on its date of service.
By the Board, Rachel D. Campbell, Director, Office of Proceedings.
