Laws

•	American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978 as amended (42 U.S.C. 1996 and 1996a)
•	Archeological and Historic Preservation Act of 1974 as amended (16 U.S.C. 469-469c-2)
•	Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) of 1979 (P.L. 96-95; 16 U.S.C. 470aa-470mm). Requires Federal agencies to acquire a permit prior to conducting archaeological excavations on Federal lands.
•	National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 as amended. (42 U.S.C. 4321-4347)
